UK CSTF Aligned Mandatory Training

NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers now insist that all medical, nursing and healthcare staff should attend statutory and mandatory training that is aligned to the UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF). All our training content is fully mapped and aligned to UK Core Skills Training Framework. All doctors, nurses, aligned health professionals (AHPs) and healthcare assistants working in NHS Trusts through framework recruitment agencies and locum agencies are now required to complete CSTF aligned mandatory training.

Imperium Edge’s CSTF aligned classroom-based mandatory training day is a compulsory requirement for all doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and allied health professionals working with locum agencies in NHS trusts.
Our classroom-based CSTF training covers all the key legislation, demonstrations and practical assessments for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), manual handling of objects and safe moving and handling of people. This practical mandatory training should be completed every year (Annual CSTF mandatory training refresher).

The CSTF aligned annual practical day covers the following training modules:

• CSTF Infection Prevention and Control (Levels 1 and 2)
• CSTF Information Governance, including:
  • NHS Counter Fraud

• CSTF Fire Safety
• CSTF NHS Conflict Resolution, including:
  • Complaints Handling
  • Lone Working Awareness
• CSTF Safeguarding Adults (Inclusive of Mental Health & Mental Capacity)

Not everyone needs to attend the optional mandatory training modules. However, some healthcare roles (HCAs, doctors, nurses and AHPs) may require staff to attend these additional training modules.
As such, the optional CSTF training modules are delivered towards the end of the day to allow delegates who do not require these modules to leave before they start.

All delegates who attend our CSTF aligned practical training day will be given access to all our online mandatory training courses and the additional e-learning modules FREE OF CHARGE.

Most nursing agencies and medical locum agencies require these mandatory modules to be delivered annually. However, some employers may ask their staff to attend these training courses every 2 or three years. Please check with your recruitment/locum agency or employer how often you will have to complete the additional statutory and mandatory eLearning modules.

These mandatory training modules are role dependant and include:

Yes the ‘all in one-day mandatory training course’ is still valid but it is not aligned to the UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF). Many NHS Trusts and recruitment/locum agencies who supply nurses, doctors, AHPs and other healthcare staff to NHS hospitals and private sector insist that all staff should attend mandatory and statutory training that is aligned to UK CSTF.

As such, we recommend CSTF aligned mandatory training for all agency workers and locum doctors and AHPs working through NHS frameworks, including Health Trust Europe (HTE), Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and the National Collaborative Framework for NHS providers.

Safeguarding Children Level 3 Training Course

Mandatory training is a compulsory requirement that places responsibility on healthcare organisations and staff to work in a safe and efficient way to ensure the best outcomes for patients. Mandatory training enables medical, nursing and healthcare staff to be compliant with their statutory and mandatory training requirements.
All healthcare professionals (including NHS and non-NHS employees) are required to attend mandatory training, regardless of whether they are full time or part-time, bank staff or permanent staff. The majority of statutory and mandatory training courses are delivered as part of induction training, then renewed annually afterwards as part of annual mandatory training updates or annual refresher training.

Mandatory training is a compulsory requirement for all health and social care staff, including all clinical NHS staff, non-clinical NHS staff, agency workers, bank staff (including part-time and full-time staff). Care Quality Commission (CQC) expects all NHS and private health care staff to attend mandatory training in line with recommendations from the CSTF, Skills for Care, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), Resuscitation Council (UK) and other professional and regulatory bodies.

Both employers (including nursing agencies, care agencies and locum medical agencies) and employees have a responsibility to ensure that the mandatory and statutory training standards are met.

In April 2016, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) introduced a new system of revalidation for registered nurses and midwives practising in the UK. As part of their revalidation, nurses and midwives are required to show evidence of 40 CPD hours/points completed within each three year period.
